Record attendance for Shrews Women success!

29 April 2024

Yesterday saw a fantastic event at the Croud Meadow as Shrewsbury Town Women beat local rivals Shifnal Town Ladies 3-0 in front of a record crowd of 912 supporters!

The women were in great form on their first game at the Croud Meadow in the West Midlands Regional Premier Division and ran out comfortable winners thanks to Kim Bebbington's opener and Katie Doster's brace.

There was a fantastic atmosphere in the ground with representatives from the South Stand Flags providing a drum to really get the atmosphere going.

Shrews Women director and first team player Leanne Rimmer said: “It was an amazing day at the Croud Meadow. We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase women’s football in Shropshire, and the support we received from nearly 1000 fans.

"It means so much to our team. Three points, three goals and a clean sheet in a local derby top it off.”

Shrewsbury Town CEO Liam Dooley added: “It was great to see so many people down at the Croud Meadow supporting the team. This is another step forward for the club as we try and be as inclusive and forward-thinking as possible.”

We look forward to continuing to work closely with the women’s team to hopefully have more games on the Croud Meadow in future seasons.

Well done to all involved and thank you for your support!
