Shrewsbury fell to a 3-0 defeat against Lincoln at the LNER Stadium.

Town have made big strides forward since Paul Hurst's return to the club as head coach.

But just a few days on from an impressive win at Reading, goals from Ted Bishop, Reeco Hackett and Lasse Sorensen won it for the hosts.

Boss Paul Hurst made four changes from the team that won in Berkshire - with three of those changes enforced.

In goal, Harry Burgoyne made his second league start of the season with Marko Marosi missing out due to a groin problem.

In defence, Jason Sraha came into the side at left-back with Mal Benning absent for personal reasons.

Sraha was joined in the back four by Morgan Feeney, Chey Dunkley and Carl Winchester - with Aaron Pierre having picked up an injury in Berkshire.

In a 4-2-3-1 system, Elliott Bennett and Nohan Kenneh sat in midfield with Tom Bayliss in the number 10 role.

Tom Bloxham started on the right flank with Jordan Shipley on the left and Ryan Bowman the lone striker.

Lincoln lined up in a 3-5-1-1 system with Lasse Sorensen at right wing-back and Reeco Hackett on the left.

In attack, Joe Taylor was the central striker with Ben House just behind.

It was Town who created the first chance of the game when - in the fifth minute - Bennett whipped in a dangerous free-kick that caused havoc in the Lincoln box.

Eventually, that delivery fell for Dunkley. But from around eight yards, the defender stabbed the ball wide.

Just 60 seconds later Lincoln were ahead.

After initially seeing a corner cleared, the hosts sent in another ball that fell kindly for Bishop. And he kept his composure to take a touch before firing into the bottom corner.

Bishop went close again just past the 20-minute mark when he sent a dangerous free-kick inches wide.

Gradually, though, Town began to grow in stature with Bloxham causing the hosts all sorts of problems down the right side.

But while he whipped in a number of dangerous balls - Salop were unable to convert.

Hurst opted to make a double change at the break with Taylor Perry and Jack Hinchy replacing Kenneh and Bennett in midfield.

And the subs combined almost immediately with Hincky playing a lovely ball to get Perry to the byline with his low cross then stabbed behind by a Lincoln defender.

The hosts had a glorious chance to double their lead in the 55th minute when a wonderful ball from Bishop slipped Hackett in on goal.

The wing-back's first touch was excellent but with his second he sent the ball wide of the post when he should have done better.

Three minutes later, though, Hackett was celebrating when he collected Taylor's pass before lashing the ball past Burgyone and into the roof of the net.

Lincoln made it 3-0 just before the 70-minute mark when referee Marc Edwards pointed to the spot after Burgoyne brought down Ben House.

Harry responded with a brilliant save to push Bishop's spot-kick against the post. 

But in a cruel twist of the keeper, the ball then fell for Lasse Sorensen whose miss-hit cross sailed into the net.

Town tried to pull one back with Lukas Jensen parrying away a strike from Perry. Hinchy also entered the box before firing over.

But Salop's evening went from bad to worse when Hinchy was subbed off late on after picking up a knock.
