Loan man Hector keen to learn from Jacko

Hector looking to continue improving with Town stay

Loan signing Michael Hector, voted man of the match in Shrewsbury Town's latest friendly against Wolves, reckons working with Greenhous Meadow first team coach Mike Jackson can only enhance his game.

The Reading central defender, who has joined Town for the next six months, has heard plenty of good things about Jackson from his Reading team mate Kaspars Gorkss.

The Latvian international played alongside Jackson at Blackpool and with Hector playing in the same position, the 20-year-old believes the Town coach can have a positive impact on his career.

"I've heard very good things about Jacko from Gorkss who was with him at Blackpool," said Hector. "Before and after training he's always talking to me and giving me stuff to do.

"Being a centre half, I can pick his brains and ask him and the other coaching staff questions.

"It's going to be a really good loan spell for me as he was a top quality centre half. I'll try and get as much information as I can from him."

Hector, who recently signed a new two-year deal at Premier League newcomers Reading, is a fitness doubt for tomorrow night's final public pre-season friendly at Worcester City.

"Hopefully I can shake off a little knock I got against Wolves on Tuesday," he added. "I took a little knock to the back of my knee but hopefully it's not too serious.

"I've got to get a bit of treatment from the physio."
