CEO delighted by FanZone response

Shrewsbury Town’s new FanZone appears to be proving a big hit after successful games against Bolton, Rochdale and Walsall.

The new zone has been arranged by Shrewsbury Town in the Community and provides an area for live music and food and drink before the game.

Town’s CEO Brian Caldwell has been pleased with the response from the fans and is looking at options to improve the experience next season.

“I’m delighted with how it’s come about”, Brian told ShrewsWeb.

“Obviously Jamie’s been running it on the Community side, but it has been really good for us to get involved and see how it’s operated.

“We’ve been blessed as well with good weather for the weekend matches, which has obviously helped, and we need to look at how we provide a solution long term, so that it’s not just the summer months that we have the Fanzone.

“It’s never going to be an earner for the football club, but the most important thing is to try and encourage people to get here early and come to the stadium rather than go to a pub nearby and find out it is raining and then decide not to go to the football.

“In an ideal world, through the winter you’d have a building and then through the summer months you’d be outside with the weather like we’ve had.

“It’s been great to have young local live bands as well, who are getting the chance to showcase their music as well, which I think everyone has taken to at the same time.”

The FanZone will be open from 1pm on Saturday ahead of the game with Southend United. Goodbye Ohio return to the stage after performing ahead of the Bolton game and the current plans are for FanZone to be open after the game.
