Midfielder adds experience to Micky's squad

Andy Robinson has completed his move to Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.

The 34-year-old has impressed manager Micky Mellon and his coaching staff since linking up with the Town squad for pre-season training and featured in the friendly matches at home to Chesterfield and West Bromwich Albion.

Robinson scored the winning goal for Tranmere Rovers when they beat Shrewsbury 1-0 at the Greenhous Meadow last season before leaving Prenton Park in May.

Born in Birkenhead, the winger made his name with Swansea City, scoring 44 goals in nearly 200 games for the Welsh club.

He signed for Leeds United in 2008 and spent two years at Elland Road, playing 38 matches.

Robinson then had two spells on loan at Tranmere before signing for them on a permanent basis. He played nearly 100 games for Tranmere and scored 18 goals.

Robinson is Shrewsbury's second signing today following former Barnsley midfielder Jordan Clark.

More on this and reaction shortly.
